Obituary

Greta (Meyer) MacWhirter has died of kidney failure at Hôpital Papineau in Buckingham, Québec, on December 13th, 2024, surrounded by children Shelley MacWhirter, Brent MacWhirter (Sharon), and Scott MacWhirter (Tara).

She leaves behind sister, Hilda Maclean, and brother, Donald Meyer (Lorna), grandsons Clinton Terreault-MacWhirter, Clay MacWhirter, and Cole MacWhirter, and great grandsons, Nathan Terreault-MacWhirter and Silas Terreault-MacWhirter.

After marrying Ian, Greta lived her entire life in a valley of the Maskinongé River, not far from the dairy farm where she was born in Brookdale, Québec.

An educator all of her days, Greta taught in Harrington and Namur, Québec.

After retirement and Ian's death, her numerous causes and projects and hobbies continued to keep her active and engaged in her community

She thrived on her own well into her 89th year, when an illness took her independence and she moved into Les Résidences de Roy et Fils in St. Émile, Quebec, where she was surrounded by former students and new friends.

Thanks to the staff at Hôpital Papineau, Greta's last days were filled with kindness, humour, and warmth.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Desforges Funeral Home, 188 rue Principale, Grenville, QC (819) 242-2113.
